We tend to forget that happiness doesn’t come as a result of getting something we don’t have, but rather of recognizing and appreciating what we do have… One minute of anger costs you sixty seconds of your life that you can never have back. Happiness is a journey not a destination. You must be mindful of that ever single day.
To remind myself of this I start each day by appreciating what I am thankful for and acknowledging everything that I have accomplished so far. I keep a whiteboard filled with goals that I have already met so that I can remind myself that the goals that I have for the future are not a reflection of things I have not done but of things I can and will be able to accomplish one step at a time.
