Painting with granulating Watercolour
Customizing the granulating schmincke sets.
🌸 my first try at customizing These pallets is ready for painting. I tried to start by adding a few single pigment paints that would enhance the sets.
🌸 The next step was to Think about what I might be painting with the sets and fill in the gaps to make them more flexible.
🌸 The one challenge is to pick out colours that will complement the original five without overwhelming them.
🌸 another decision was to strike a good balance of warm and cool tones that would still work together.
I’ll be painting with these for a few weeks as I record my granulation series for YouTube so stay tune.

I wanted to paint something that allowed me to experience granulation while showing off the colours of the set so I came up with A few painting ideas using light layers.
The light washes allow the granulation to settle into the paper easily.
Note:
For best results swirl the paint on a ceramic pallet with your brush before applying to your paper. Make sure you have enough water in the paint to release the sediment so that when you add it to your paper the granulating particles will be more apparent.
Using 100% cotton rough textured paper will enhance the granulation further and reveals surprising results when it dries.
Let your layers dry before applying more paint and try to paint with a lighter layers without having to repeat your strokes too often.

Tundra Pink
Tundra pink is a really great watercolour to have in any of these sets because it gives you such flexibility.
I enhanced tundra pink with a couple of additional colours to see what it would happen and the effects were lovely.
